Where Did Reiki Hawaii Come From

By Gladys Holland

People ask what is reiki Hawaii and where did it come from. It is not certain where exactly it originated. Some accounts are that it started 5000 years ago in India while others claim it was 2500 years in Tibet.

What we do know is that Dr. Usui made it known again in Japan in the early 1900's. Then Mrs. Hawayo Takata brought the method from Japan to Hawaii in 1937. It is accepted and practiced all over the world today.

Rei means spirit and ki means energy, when put together the word reiki means the life force healing energy. The practitioner is a channel of positive energy that flows to the client's body. The positive energy pushes out the negative blocks in the body to allow healing to begin.

The western method for applying the healing energy is to first have the client either lay on the massage table or sit comfortably in a chair. The practitioner then touches the client's body in a particular order to allow the energy to flow. Clients most often feel heat coming from the hands of their practitioner. Some times the client feels a cool breeze over their feet or their entire body. Everyone experiences something different.

It is not necessary for the client to be physically touched at all. Traditional practitioners intuitively know where to hold their hands over the body and channel the energy. Clients still claim to feel heat or a tingling sensation even though they are not being touched.

Dr. Usui did not introduce the use of any crystals, chakras, or symbols to his students for use when healing. The focus was on clearing away all mental and emotional blocks that were preventing the body from healing. The practitioner achieved this by clearing any blocks they may have first, then allowing energy to flow through their body to the clients.

Reiki Hawaii works by allowing life force healing energy to flow from one person to another. It can be used as a compliment to traditional medicine. However, do not cease any current treatment prescribed by a medical physician Read more about: reiki hawaii
