The Importance Of Longevity Supplements

By Jody Sanders

For years, scientists and doctor around the globe have been searching for the answer to increased life expectancy. Over the last half century, life expectancy in the US has constantly been rising with researchers saying that in a round twenty years, the average life expectancy will be 85. Whatever the case, a person can increase their chances of living to a ripe old age by taking longevity supplements.

One of the most popular supplements is dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). Research has shown that DHEA slows down the effects of aging and increases longevity especially in men. DHEA is abundantly present in people around their mid-twenties. However, the level of DHEA gradually decreases as we get older. In fact, a person in their 70s has less than three-quarters the amount of DHEA they had when they were 25. Unfortunately, supplements that contain DHEA cannot be used by people who have hormonal related cancers such as prostate or breast cancer.

An improved level of melatonin hormone could enhance lifestyle expectancy. This hormone decreases the speed at which protein is deposited to the mind. These deposits are liable for cell degeneration and hasten the arrival of old age. In addition, melatonin can help the cells produce more energy as the make the mitochondria more effective.

Vitamin A also helps slow down the aging process. This vitamin helps in marinating good eyesight, cell formation and bone formation. Vitamin A is also used in the formation of white blood cells. These are responsible for fighting disease-causing germs.

Calcium is the abundant in our bodies. It has a number of functions, which include nerve transmission, hormone secretion and bone formation. When a person gets older, they need more calcium to ensure their bones stay healthy and strong. A person with healthy bones is more likely to live longer.

However, longevity supplements are only effective if a person also practices good nutrition. They are not a substitute for healthy eating. A person can also increase their life expectancy by exercising properly.
