People who want to loose weight really start out with the best intentions, however, life usually takes over and then things change. Loosing weight is not easy and therefore some just stop before getting to the goal. Others do make it to their goal but have a hard time keeping the weight off. All it really just takes is following the proper guidelines and having a bit of self control. This article lists a few helpful tips that should help you loose the weight and keep it off.

Refrigerate your soup before you eat it. If you love to cook and you are trying to lose weight, you can actually skim the fat off the top of any soups you cook. After cooking a large pot of soup, refrigerate it. All of the fat will rise to the top.

When ordering food at restaurants or fast food places, buy smaller portions. If you usually buy a foot long sandwich, buy a 6 inch instead. When at a movie theater buy a small popcorn. If you are going through a a drive-through, order a small hamburger and small fries instead of "super sizing it." You will eat less calories per meal.

If you need to lose that stubborn fat stored in your thighs, walking on an incline is a great exercise to do. This can be done using a treadmill, walking up steps, or even climbing a hill near your home. Inclined walking targets the large muscle groups in your legs and helps to strengthen and tone them, while at the same time burning the stored fat in those problem areas.

Whenever you get that gnawing craving for a certain food, grab your phone and call a friend and chat for a bit. Redirecting your mind to something else will help keep you from giving in to that food that your mind is stuck on. Research has revealed that cravings generally last for about 5 minutes. By the time you have hung up from having that chat, your desire to gorge yourself with junk should have passed.

For some people, focusing on the weight part of weight loss is discouraging. But you don't have to go about it that way. If you want to lose weight without looking at a pounds figure, go after a particular pants or dress size. Saying, "I plan to be able to wear a size 12 (14,24, whatever) again" gives you the motivation to begin looking at clothes in those sizes and visualize yourself wearing them, which will help you toward your goal.

Drink iced water to aid in your weight loss. As the ice cold water enters your system, your body starts to cool down. To help your body recover its lost heat your body will start quickly burning fat. Try to drink iced water instead of other unhealthy drinks such as soda.

Gauge the portion size of meat by the palm of your hand. You can also think of a healthy size portion as being the approximate size of a deck of cards. If you keep these visual images in mind you aren't as likely to load your plate up with too much meat and blow your diet for the day.

Therefore, the best way to lose those extra pounds would be to watch your weight. If you were to do this, there is no question that y ou will be able to lose the extra pounds that you have always wanted to lose for all of these crazy days and years.
