The Surf Industry Is Still Up

By Byron Jonas

It is the perfect setting, the peace of the morning, with nothing but the sound of sea-gulls, the waves of the ocean and your own heart beating with the excitement to get out there and experience it all. The boards have been waxed down and the wet-suits are on. This is the first time you have experienced anything like this. After it is all over you know it won't be the last though. The addiction that surfing creates is what has kept the surf industry booming.

What makes the surf industry special? It is the people that have chosen to incorporate surfing into everyday life. It is the one's that have to catch another wave. They brave the cold and the wind to experience the thrill. This is not just a hobby to some but an addiction and not necessarily a bad one.

The surfer feels excitement when he is out there but he also feels a calmness or peace that can't really be explained. This desire and hunger keeps them going back to the beach and back to the surf shop to buy the things they need to conquer the wave.

The most popular trends in the surfing industry, in no particular order, are apparel, accessories, foot-wear, wet-suits and hard goods. These trends are a big part of what has kept the industry strong. Surfers not only buy the merchandise for when they are on the water but off as well. Surfers have a unique style. They have helped keep the industry alive with this style.

More and more people are taking to the water to ride the waves these days. Over the past twenty years surfing has become more popular than ever. The market as well as the number of surfers in the United States have doubled. There has been an enormous increase in the last five years alone.

Thousands of people will attend and browse many different booths at the expos. These booths consist of all the trends of the sport. Foot-wear, accessories, clothing and hard-goods can be seen. Demonstrations will be made to give an up close look at the products.

With the increasing popularity of such an interesting sport the surf industry should continue to do well. Who doesn't like the sand, the water and the excitement of such a sport? There is also something quite intriguing about one who takes to the waves immersing themselves in and surrounded by such beautiful nature.
